And, so, today, Cisco officially took over Splunk for $28 billion, and which continues a journey into data and AI for Cisco [here]:

Cisco perhaps missed the rise in cybersecurity, but they are now a strong contender. But, it was Splunk who saw the greatest opportunity. Now, Cisco is to acquire Splunk for $28 billion, and is the end of a journey for Splunk, and where they completely disrupted the world of cybersecurity. If you want an outline of Splunk, try here:

The focus of Cisco in the acquisition is:

1. Tap into AI.
2. Expand into the threat intelligence market by integrating Cisco Talos threat intelligence with Splunk (SIEM and SOAR platforms). Again this is likely to involve AI integration.
3. Expand into multi-cloud environments, including with Splunk IT Service Intelligence (ITSI).
4. Expand data gathering within Cisco platforms.
