A Great Researcher and Teacher: Alfred Menezes
In academia, you get great teachers and great researchers. But, it is not often that you find someone who is both a great teacher and a great researcher. For me, Professor Alfred Menezes is an exemplar of being both a great teacher and an amazing researcher.
While I got into cybersecurity and cryptography through the work of Bruce Schneier, it is from Alfred that I have learnt most about cryptography. So, I was humbled to be able to speak to him yesterday, and he provided so many insights on how he works with Scott Vanstone, how he helped create the ECDSA signature method, and his work with Professor Neal Koblitz:
For any ECR (Early Career Research), Alfred is someone that they can aspire to be, and he shows how it is possible to both do research and feed this into research.
